Today’s poems are selected from Ted Kooser’s The Blizzard Voices, a collection of informal verse commemorating the apocalyptic Great Plains blizzard of 1888.
Hey Sean - Thx again for the great poems. I’m a Close Reads subscriber and am not receiving the Tuesday and Thursday poems. How do I correct that? I miss hearing the poems through out the week. Peace, Catherine Lynch
Hi Catherine, at this point there is no way on Substack to give a sub to another Substack as a subscriber benefit and The Daily poem and CR are two different endeavors/Substacks. So right now they are two different subscriptions, but they are also two different production costs. I might have to increase the price of CR each month to make it work if we’re gonna include TDP. I’ll think through it though!
That collection is quite the storytelling feat.
I bought it at a small bookstore in Estes Park, Colorado, a few years back.
Was it the Macdonald Bookshop? I was there this summer...so great.
I've read The Children's Blizzard by David Laskin but had no idea there was a book of poetry about it. Looking forward to getting a hold of that.
Yes indeed!
