Kenyon published four volumes of poetry during her life: From Room to Room (1978), The Boat of Quiet Hours (1986), Let Evening Come (1990), and Constance (1993), and, as translator, Twenty Poems of Anna Akmatova (1985).
I have loved this poem for years, and recently wrote about it at my Substack, Poetry for Life. https://meganwillome.substack.com/p/taking-down-the-tree
I also started a new tradition because of this poem: I cued up Hamlet while I was taking down the tree.
The world returning to us in all its goodness, in this annual tradition.
My kids have also carried on the tradition from my own childhood too of the jumping jack dismemberment 😆
🤣
