You asked about a Saturday Daily Poem and I think that would be wonderful. I love learning about the the context of themes in which the poem was written, more about the poet, more about the interpretations of the poem. And I definitely second more poems for younger readers: the poems of my childhood.
It's the extras, however small or grand, about the poem or writer that make the poems meaningful or relevant and that is what drew me to the Daily Poem and through that door to Close Reads.
You have done a most excellent job since taking over the helm of TDP. And I am so grateful. It is truly a joy. It definitely helps make my world a more beautiful place. Your endeavors are appreciated more than you know.
I love the theme weeks, and the Saturday bonus was a treat! May I request poetry and commentary aimed at younger listeners every so often? My boys enjoyed poems like “Casey at the Bat” and “The Tale of Custard the Dragon” from the early DP days.
I like hearing these longer poems in full. I would love to see future episodes like this.
Thanks for a beautiful reading of ‘Morituri Salutamus’—a Saturday-morning treat I would love to repeat!

I agree! I love those poems, too.
This was a great bonus treat to find! Thanks so much!
This poem was new to me (aside from the introduction yesterday) and it was a pleasure to listen to it being read here—thank you. 🤓
