Today’s poem is one of Shakespeare’s “irregular” sonnets–he’s got 99 problems (most of them flowers), but strict obedience to the requirements of the sonnet form ain’t one.
This one is driving me nuts, however. Full of inconsistencies. First and fundamentally, is the poet addressing the violet, or the lover? Or other flowers? If all, how can that be intentional, or effective?
Another: other credible sources show “forward” and not ‘’four word” in the first line.
Sean, I’m a regular and grateful fan.

And of course the 15-line issue you mention.
Please keep them coming.
